[d at DCC] Needing some info on some MPs I will be meeting in a few weeks.

For the Week of March 19'th I have 3 MP meeting set up so far. While I
know Charlie Angus well, I'm wondering if people can help me learn a bit
of background of two other MPs. I figure if I know a bit more about these
people, as well as know of constituents in their riding that support our
cause, this will make the meetings that much better.

Please remember that for the rest of this week, and next week, federal
members of parliament are in their riding. This is the best time to try
to contact them (email, voice, or best in person) to talk to them about
technology law issues. We need to ensure that we let them know that most
Canadian creators and the general public are not supportive of "tougher"
copyright laws to make suing fans easier, and are not supportive of
so-called "Digital Restrictions Management".

If you only have a moment, sending a form letter to your MP is better
than not contacting them at all: http://www.digital-copyright.ca/letters

The 3 MPs I am meeting are:

Hon. Hedy Fry (Vancouver Centre, Liberal)
   - Member of Heritage Committee
Received a call today from staff based on an invitation to see Cory
Doctorow talk. Ms. Fry won't be able to make the talk, but wanted to
     learn more.

Dean Allison (Niagara West -- Glanbrook, Conservative)
   - Meeting was set up based on a letter I wrote about Bob Young, so I
will be explaining how Bob makes his money and what type of sensible
technology law helps entrepreneurs like him.

Charlie Angus (Timmins - James Bay, NDP)
   - Member of Heritage Committee, and NDP Heritage Critic
He's "one of us", being an independent musician who sees the Internet
and new technology as an opportunity rather than a threat. He's not a
techie, and I am meeting with him to discuss the IT property rights
petition before he tables signatures I handed off to his staff
     yesterday.
See a recent talk he gave at Ottawa University

BTW: While I have met with a variety of members from the federalist
parties who have seats in the house, I've not yet met with anyone from the
Bloc. This isn't from lack of trying, but from lack of language skills --
We really need people in Quebec to step up and set up meetings with Quebec
MPs.

P.S. I would like to be dedicating more time to this than I have been
able to so far. Please consider financially supporting CLUE as a way to
help support this important work http://cluecan.ca/
