"The Toronto-based Indie Pool, which says it represents more than 40,000
indie artists in Canada, wants developing artists to get more CanCon
"weight" than established ones, so that up-and-comers are not squashed by
the big stars."
I support this type of initiative. I am a firm believer that we need to
move regulation of creativity out of the copyright act and into the more
standard regulators of the economy. The copyright act should be entirely
neutral technology, method of creation, distribution and funding.
Existing special cased should be moved out of the copyright act and into
appropriate agencies to regulate, simplifying the act such that it can be
understood by those that it governs.
