Exactly..  I wonder what the reaction would be if it was pointed out 
that the anti-skip feature on CD players MEANS that the player COPIES 
the next xyz seconds of the song into COMPUTER type MEMORY!  so that it 
can go back and get the missed part without causing a glitch in the 
playback.

I guess that means everyone should pay a fee every time they turn on 
their walkman.

The simplification would be to declare that "incidental "copying" 
required for the functioning of ICT.. (web cache, buffering, disk to 
memory to swap drive and back - Etc.) was not infringing if it was part 
of otherwise non-infringing activity.  Presto, we could wipe out a half 
dozen exemptions, and not have the RIAA sticking their hand out every 
time some engineer adds some efficiency tweak to some item of electronics.
