   iCommons Canada Launch Party.

Please join us on the evening of Thursday September 30, 2004 for the
official launch of the Canadian version of the Creative Commons
(cc-ca) licences for digital artworks. The licence was ported for use
in Canada by the Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic
(CIPPIC) in collaboration with the Law & Technology Program at the
University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law.

Professor Lawrence Lessig, Chair of Creative Commons, will be the
guest of honour. Other guests include 'The Internet and Law: A Global
Conversation' conference attendees, educators and students from across
the country, and friends from the arts, business and computer
   community.

The party will feature live music from acclaimed Canadian electronic
music artist DJ Nonsense, who is creating a special educational
compilation of the history of sampling in the music industry - to be
freely-distributed to partygoers. The evening will also include an
exhibition of digital artwork made available under cc and/or cc-ca
   licences.

19h30 at The Collection/Bar 56 Byward Market, Ottawa.
Dress code is free as in freedom. Admission is free as in beer.
Bagels to be served while supplies last.
