I sent a message to Industry and Heritage committees, and was reminded
that they are not yet restarted. Thought this may be of interest.

Subject: Please add this article to discussions on digital coyright by
Heritage and Industry committees.
I would like this letter to be forwarded to members of the Heritage
Committee and the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology
to include as part of their discussions on digital copyright reform.
The following article was written for a wider audience so includes
references to current political issues relating to past Heritage Minister
Sheila Copps.
http://www.flora.ca/russell/drafts/copps-ndp.html
A point-form outline of the article follows:
- perceived threats to copyright from new communications technologies
- proposed or implemented solutions to threats, including new problems
created by "solutions".
- Legal protection for TPM (Discussed as "Control over Information and
Communications Technologies")
- Creative rights being replaced with a right of remuneration
(Discussed as "Control over business models for creators")
- alternative solutions and the advantages
- contrasting responses to this policy between past Heritage Minister
Sheila Copps and entrepreneur Robert Young (Hamilton home-town hero)
I am available as a private citizen to talk to members of parliament and
other policy makers, either individually or as a group, about this area of
policy. I live and work in Ottawa and can be available at your
convenience. Full contact information can be found at:
