[OT]Privacy issue

Sorry for the OT post but I know a lot of you are interested in privacy
matters here.......


I have recently read (why yes I can read, just selectively) in the
National post that a bill called C-6 will be in full effect some time
next Jan.  This bill is  supposedly there to protect Personal
Information and electronic documents.  

On this website http://www.privatech.ca/htdocs/html/canada.cfm it
initially looks like everything has already started. But if you read
further down(item 2) it clarifies that compliance is needed by all
companies in 2004.  This is not a government website but one run by some
privacy consultants.  

What do people think?  Just trying to stir the pot a little.
