I'm against any criminal penalties for piracy on the basis that prisons
should focus more on crimes such as murder, rape, and violent offenses. I'm
ok with fines against businesses. But organizations like CAAST need to be
kept on a short leash. They have ties with the BSA (the same people who got
Muslim clerics to issue a "holy edict" against software piracy. /. link:

Organizations like CAAST want to make people (And the government
unfortunately) think that software piracy is a more serious crime than
violent offenses. This is simply not the case, and this is one of the
reasons that I'm totally against criminal penalties in the upcoming
copyright reforms.
my two cents.
