Well...I see our AUP has been getting a lot of attention here...First off
let me say that the person who started this thread did not tell the full
story. His initial email to CUIC was both rude and indicated that he was
taking part in activities that we did not want hosted on our servers or
linked to our company in any way. Secondly we (CUIC) does not or will ever
have illegal copies of software running at our office(s) or on our servers
and the very suggestion is defamatory. Thirdly (getting back to the point)
we have reference to the DMCA to cover ourselves in the event of a US
company coming after us for violations. We have already been "threatened"
by a major US corporation for violation of this act because of content
being hosted by one of our customers on one of our servers. We fully agree
with the DMCA and that is our choice. We have not had any other complaints
in regards to this being part of our AUP in the 4 years we have been in
business. It's simple; if you do not want to abide by our terms, then do
not become a customer. I was not forcing this gentleman to become a member
nor was I censoring him...see in Canada we all have choices, we are not
forced to use a particular service if we don't like it. We can simply move
on. By defaming a company because they have high standards for their
customers isn't fair and he obviously has more time on his hands than I do.
