I've been thinking that it would be useful to have a "jargon file"
on the web giving phrases and words that get bandied about when
discussing copyright et al, their meanings and alternatives.
We've already mentioned several in this forum :
Rights Holders
Content Owners
Intellectual Property
Content Producers
we could usefully add some from the legislation itself :
Derivative Works
Limited Times
Infringing Copy
Fair Dealing (and probably "Fair Use" too)
and some common terminology
Infringement vs. Piracy

The idea being :
a) Inform people trying to understand what the hell we're talking about.
b) Remind ourselves why we like/dislike certain terms.
c) Raise awareness of the subtle propaganda war that's being waged (e.g.
how what the industries used to call infringement they now call piracy
whereas we would probably call it something completely different.
