APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTS. PLEASE CIRCULATE AS FAR AND WIDE AS POSSIBLE.
The Glebe Community Association and concerned Mutchmor parents are
organizing a public forum for Tuesday, December 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Glebe
Community Centre, 690 Lyon Street.
A public forum and panel discussion:
Ottawa's Boom, Bust and Closure:
Do school closures foretell the future of the new megacity?
Is "closed and for sale" on downtown schools the solution to overcrowded
schools in the suburbs? Can urban values survive education cuts? Does the
fight for dollars - brought on by Queen's Park, and pitting parents against
parents, and the downtown against the suburbs -- jeopardize a shared vision
for the new city?
Moderated by Ken Rockburn of CBC Radio's 'All in a Day' with:
* Adam Chowaniec, CEO, Tundra Semiconductor and Chair, Ottawa Economic
Development Corporation
* Caroline Andrew, Dean of Social Sciences, University of Ottawa
* A representative of the new city council (to be confirmed)
* Judith Bishop, trustee, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board
* Kathryn Blackett, People with Education (Toronto)
